Description
SEA OF FRADES ALBARIÑO
Made with 100% Albariño
VARIETY: 100% Albariño
HARVEST: The autumn months were marked by high temperatures and very little rainfall, unusual conditions on the Atlantic coast.
The cold weather arrived in January, and with a single night of frost, we began spring with days and days of rain: heavy and light, constant and intermittent, which resulted in an atypical fruit set. Summer surprised us with continuous sunny days and intense heat. After the water stress they had endured, the vines began to ripen their bunches so that on September 6th we could begin harvesting the freshest, most aromatic, and perfectly ripe Albariño grapes.
PRODUCTION: The crates of Albariño grapes were cataloged at the winery. Hours later, they passed through our sorting tables, and only the whole, healthy, and turgid berries (we discard 12%) went into our macerators using the Ganímede method. There, with the aid of CO2, we extracted the finest compounds from the grapes. The musts, with their clean and frank aromas, fermented with their own yeast in a slow and delicate environment, carefully controlled to capture the most Atlantic and mineral aromas.
TASTING NOTES: Mar de Frades 2016 stands out for its radiant, fine lemon color with hints of seaweed. Its luminous appearance invites you to perceive aromas of stone fruit, apricot, and loquat, along with almond blossom and subtle saline and tropical notes. On the palate, it reveals a balsamic and Atlantic character, with flavors of orange marmalade and aromatic herbs that elevate it to a flavorful and decisive wine.
PAIRING: Due to its freshness and lively saline aromas, the 2016 vintage allows intense flavors from both the sea, such as marinated salmon or Sashimi, and from the land, vegetable gyozas or hummus.
THERMOCHROMIC LABEL: The label incorporates a thermosensitive logo, which causes a small boat to appear when the wine reaches its optimal serving temperature, and to disappear if the wine is not cold enough for tasting.
